I just wrapped up sessions 21 through 30 on the Backlog Bingo 2021 board, and man, I flew through that shit like it was nothing. Granted, Snowpocalypse put a bit of a damper on the previous ten, but this time around I got some shit done in record time.

It’s the second set of sessions that I’ve actually seen some completions on, which is awesome. It’s nice to at least see progress being made; a lot of times I’m playing the games but don’t really feel like I’m getting anything done. So to have the second set in a row with two completions is a good feeling.

So how have things been going? Let’s take a look…

Supraland was the first one to come up, and it was the first time it came up on the Bingo Board to begin with, so it was nice to be playing something else. I was actually pleasantly surprised by it, but damn it starts off slow. Luckily it doesn’t take very long for the player to get some upgrades, and before long I had increased speed, and then a double and triple jump. I had a blast during my play session and I’m looking forward to next time, but I do have a creeping concern that it’s going to stretch on too long.

Sea of Solitude turned into a marathon play session for me, and I’m not even sure it was streamed. I played this game for about three or four hours, until I completed it. I offered my in-depth thoughts in the write-up I did for it, but suffice it to say that I liked it, but didn’t love it, and the ending left me feeling a bit let down.

Little did I know when I booted up SOMA for the first time that this would be the game that wouldn’t go away. The Random Number Generator is obsessed with the number 21. If I was playing Black Jack, this would be fine, but on a bingo board it’s a different story. I’m at four sessions already, which I think is the current record-holder. Hopefully I’ll get it done before too much longer and we’ll be done with it. (I am enjoying it though.)

I’m getting really close to the end of The Evil Within 2, I can feel it in my bones. I can also tell because the story is becoming more and more nonsensical as I go. Not that it ever made much sense to begin with. I have a good feeling the next play session will be the last one.

Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy is still going strong. I think I may be around the mid-point of the game. I don’t think this one will be finished up anytime soon, though I could be wrong. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve played an old Xbox game with a stacked front-end and a rushed third act. But it doesn’t seem like the game is in much of a hurry to get where its going. I’m having fun with it, and it holds up really well with the Xbox One X enhancements.

I just finished up Nightmares of the Deep 3: Davy Jones prior to doing this recap. It’s a hidden object game, it is what it is. If you really want to know more about it, check out the Backlog Bingo write-up on the home page.

I finally got to play Warhammer 40K: Inquisitor – Martyr for the Backlog Bingo and man, I just don’t know what to think of this game. It really does assume that I am familiar with the Warhammer 40K universe and does little to fill me in on what’s going on. So far I don’t know or care who any of these characters are. The layout of the game reminds me a lot of Warframe. It has a very games-as-a-service feel to it, with events and daily quests and all the shit that usually comes along with those kinds of gams. I’ll focus on the story campaign, but if the game gets too messy, or it starts looking like one that doesn’t really end, I might just remove it.

Finally, I finished up The Touryst, which as of this writing does not have a BB write-up. I’ll have to focus on that next, I guess. I almost loved this game. There were only a few parts of it that really made me want to throw my controller. It’s frickin’ gorgeous too, especially since it’s a blocky, Mindcraft-ish artstyle.

That’s it. Two more games – The Touryst and Sea of Solitude, have been scratched off the board, and hopefully as more games get more playtime, that cadence will increase and we’ll start revealing more and more of the final image.

Until next time…
